High Schools: Mayfield softball explodes for 14

HIGH SCHOOLS – The Mayfield softball squad used a 14-run second inning to power past Middleburgh, 18-6, in Western Athletic Conference action Tuesday.

Alexis Broderick hit a home run and had a hit for four RBIs in the win. Kaylee Klymkow had two hits, scored three times and had two RBIs with Katarine Agerter hitting a double, single and driving in three runs for Mayfield. Middleburgh's Brooke Devlin has two hits and scored a run.

Berne-Knox-Westerlo dropped OESJ, 25-3

South Glens Falls pitchers Tori Young and Jessica Beames combined for a no-hit shutout against Amsterdam, 16-0 in Foothills Council action. The pair struck out eight batters and walked one in four innings of work. South Glens Falls scored 12 runs in the third inning, putting the contest away, led by Kayden Craft's 3 for 4 afternoon, scoring three times and driving in a run.

Shae Kanches allowed just four hits in Broadalbin-Perth's 10-2 non-league win against Schoharie. Kanches, Mairead Marsden, Skylar Eglin, Kara Weaver and Ava Therrien each hit doubles in the win.

COTTER POWERS BROADALBIN PAST HUDSON FALLS

Two early big innings propelled Broadalbin-Perth past Hudson Falls, 12-3, in Foothills Council baseball action. Colin Cotter went 1 for 1 with two RBI, scoring three times and walking twice.

Bradley Savoie and Ryan Savoie Jr. combined for 11 strikeouts in the win.

DYLAN’S FIVE GOALS PACE SCOTIA PAST JOHNSTOWN

Dylan Bzdell scored five goals as Scotia-Glenville doubled-up Johnstown, 12-6, in Foothills Council boys’ lacrosse action. Austin Stark scored three goals and had an assist in the win. Andrew Lake scored two goals for Johnstown, Ryan Hoyt scored twice and had an assist.
